Obtained an undergraduate degree in Geography from Simon Fraser University. Studied at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Winnipeg. Obtained a Masters Degree in City Planning from the University of Manitoba. Received an Interdisciplinary Doctorate in City Planning and Urban Studies from the University of Manitoba in 1998. Densification and the Postmodern transformation of Greater Vancouver was the subject of my disseration which was entitled " The Political Economy of Densification- Searching for Signs of the Postmodern City: A Case Study of Urban Transformation in Greater Vancouver.
Presently, I sit on the Board of a Community Economic Development Corporation know as EMBERS, which is located in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Currently I function as Chair and President of this non-profit Society.
